As I'm probably going to be passing up bucks this year, I will most likely not be a threat to any of you. But having been asked for my thoughts, I think the most important thing is for all of us to figure out how best to publicize it. Not only to help Rich promote his business, which I think we all want to see happen, but for any forum to be worthwhile, it needs to have large numbers of contributors sharing their hunting and outdoor knowledge and experience.

So.......I'm going to suggest this: As a prerequisite to being able to compete in this contest, a contestant must bring three or more new members to the forum and each of those members must have made at least three or more posts.

Just my thoughts, guys and gals.

I think getting any deer, buck or doe, is a trophy. How about we just post pics if we are lucky enough to get a deer. maybe a class for bow, rifle, muzzle loader?

There's a lot of good feedback in the thread.

Questions to Ponder:

Flint since you are sort of the "Elder" of the board would you act as judge or boss of the contest?
When I say elder I mean a lot post and time on the board. It's a compliment.

What if I start a thread for people to reply to with a start and end date to register by?
Only those that register in between those dates can participate.

Based on the suggestions in the thread what if we have two divisions (gun and bow) and best buck (most points) and doe (heaviest non field dressed deer) within each of those divisions? One winner in each division. (4 total)

Contest would end January 31st? I think most all deer seasons are over then.

Need Rich's final blessing to move forward...sice it is his web site. He mentioned he'd donate some prizes.

Everyone please write back with your thoughts...

Hey Lane. Whatever you guys come up with is fine. I'm just looking forward to the pictures and posts. Just curious, how do you get the non field dressed weight? We dress ours where they fall before they come out of the woods around here.

Either way is fine with me. I just needed a place to start.
I dress mine where they fall too. Maybe we could add a percentage to the ones that are field dressed like 25%. Just a suggestion.

OK. I would suggest each person advise when their season starts and ends ( lets get going folks seasons are here for some already and soon to start for the rest of us).

NJ ends 2/21/09 by the way but as 'judge' I will not count.

Bow, Rifle, Shotgun. Just your best deer regardless if buck or doe. Just your best picture with you, your bow or gun and use the date thingy on your trail cam or camera to ascertain it was taken this year.

The judge has bad eyesight, can be bribed. That won't help you chances of winning but I got to get something out of this deal LOL.

Good luck to all!

Flint I'd like you to participate as well. The contest is based on an honor system anyway.
