Monster Buck 2 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 1
I've been in Germany all week for work and haven't made it out in awhile. My nephew came out earlier this week to hunt while I was gone. After several waves (his description) of does passing by he decided to harvest a rather large one. He made a perfect shot and it dropped quickly. He had his heart set on a buck but didn't want to leave empty handed. It was starting to get late and he knew he had to get it out of the woods by himself since I wasn't home. He climbed out of the stand turned around and was stunned. He was looking straight at a "Monster" ten point 10 yds away. There was nothing he could do. They stared at each other for a few seconds then the buck snorted and took off. He said it dwarfed every deer we have on our walls. He was devastated. If he had sat in the stand for another two or three minutes he would have seen it earlier. I spoke with my brother last night and he said my nephew is still moping around. At least we know he is still out there

Darn it. He's still out here. He walked right under me (less than ten yds)this morning and I couldn't get off a stinking shot..... He's a beast! I hope I get another chance at him. If it was gun season he'd be in my truck right now!

Got a shot at him at 40 yds... I had a perfect broadside shot but there was very little blood on the arrow. I think it just grazed low. I'm going out in the morning to look for him again.

No. I had to have just grazed him low. The arrow had very little blood and fur on it. I saw two more doe the next morning and heard a couple of bucks fighting for quite awhile. I'm going to give it a break until this weekend. Hopefully he will come back around.

I took the day off to hunt. He's still out back! I saw him at 50 yds or so. He's fine. I was worried I wounded him pretty bad. He also has two pretty healthy looking friends hanging around. All three are definite shooters. I found one massive scrape as well. I set up a chair in some brush about 25 yds from it. I'll go out later or in the morning and see what visits.

Well I saw what made the huge scrape this morning. It was a very very nice 8 pt. Instead of following the trail to the scrape he decided to come through the brush I was sitting in! All I could do was watch him come at me. He just about walked right over me. He finally saw me at about 8 yds. That'll get your heart pumping. Deer..... They are tough to second guess.
