Must be the year for big Does. I shot one this morning that went just over 150# before being field dressed. That's the largest one I've seen in our area in the over 25 years that I've been hunting in this part of Georgia.

That's fantastic. I think there are more deer in general this year than in the 15 years or so that I've been deer hunting. I just let a large 6pt, small 4pt and a small doe walk right under me. I can only get one more doe and a buck in Ohio. I want both of them to be large. Up here the does generally run a little bigger. I've had a 155lb field dressed and my brother had a 165lb in the last couple of years. We were in a heaviest doe and heaviest buck contest at a local processor last year. My brother's 165lb came in third. The bucks generally run in the 150-200lb field dressed range.

I lived in Ohio for 30+ years and never had the opportunity to go deer hunting. They were few and far between back then in the Toledo area but we had great pheasant, duck, and rabbit hunting all the time I was growing up.
I did stop along the highway one snowy day to help a game warden attempt to lift a 12 pointer, that had been killed by a truck, into to his pickup. That deer was far too heavy for the two of us and he had to call for more help. I guess having all those cornfields and soy bean fields builds them up rather quickly.
Back then, you could only hunt with shotguns and needed a special permit for deer. Bucks only, limit of one per season.

Ohio has made significant improvements in their game management I have seen on TV shows. Good deer out there and more of 'em! Good luck.

I have faith in ya Robert. you'll get one. We have 3-4" of snow that's still coming down and high winds here today. I don't think they were calling for that! I hope your weather is cooperating much better!!!!!!

Oh and you're armed with a gallon of the all powerful Buckjam. You have everything you need in your arsenal now! Good luck again. I will try post a pic of the buck my nephew shot in southern Ohio yesterday. I haven't seen it yet but I guess it is an absolute monster.
