i40 / i60 Moultrie 7 Months ago Karma: 0
I have purchased several of the new infrared Moultrie cameras one 160 and 2 i40s and dont think the i60 is worth the extra money. The viewing screen is too small and the remote activater is useless. Really good high res pics but the quality of the i40 pics is plenty good enough fo what Im doing.

Re:i40 / i60 Moultrie 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 3
Dear Huntbuzz, I recently purchased one of you i40 cameras through E.bay for my
tasmanian tiger research. I was thrilled that the camera was advertised as
having a battery life of almost
5 months. So I raced it down to my research site and baited up with a 500mb card
inserted into the camera on High resolution. It had the capacity as read on the
screen to take about 800 shots. When I returned a month later I was extremely
disappointed to find the batteries dead and only 20 shots taken on the memory
card when I viewed them at home. There were no night shots and yet I had the
Time, date etc programmed into the camera and had set it on to the auto switch
thinking that the camera would detect the low light for the flash to come on.
Unfortunately I could not view any of the stored photo's on the internal memorty
so I had to erase them when I replaced the batteries and also put in a 1g memory
card (1800 shots displayed). I couldn't find much information to assist me with
the night shot part of the camera in the instruction brochure. I'm just hoping
that the new batteries and bigger memory card will produce a greater number of
shots along with night shots when I re!
turn in about 4 weeks time and that the batteries still have sufficient power
in them. Can you please give me some advice on how to improve the function of
the camera?

Thanks - Murray

Hi Murray,
We have ha very few complaints on batttery life. Is it possible that you and purchased some old batteries with very little charge? When you install the batteries the camera will give you a reading
of how hot the batteries are. As for the images taken, you should not have to erase them just because you erxchanged batteries. These images should still be available on the hard drive unless you actually went through the delete procedure on the camera. You should also replace the small lithium battery in the side of the camera as well just in case because most of the problems we have had with the new series of Moultrie cameras are due to weak batteries either the d cells or the lithium. If the trail cameras is set on auto there should be no reason not to be getting night images. Try the batteries and if that doesn't work give Moultrie a call or email and see what thet say. I will post this in the Huntbuzz Blog as well and see if someone else has encountered this.

Hi Murray,
Give me an update when you get a chance. I'm hoping the batteries were the problem beacause it is very rare to get less than 2-3 months out of fresh D-cell batteries. Let me know.

I use Adode Photoshop 2.0 (an older version than what is out there today) and it reads the stamping off the moultrie. Now I also have the info strip on cause I like to see the info embedded in the photo. I Don't know if that helps your inquiry.
