mounting straps 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I have just about made up my mind. I am going to order the i40. Would someone tell me if the mounting straps have been updated? I had heard that they weren't the best. Just wondering???????? or do I need to make some other kind of mounting bracket(strap). Thanks for the help....

The mounting strap problem on the new Series of Moultrie cameras is due to people pulling the strap too tight. This causes two problems. One is breaking the strap bracket and the other is bowing the back of the camera and warping it to a point where it is no longer waterproof. Simple solution. Snug the camera to the tree. There is no need to get it really tight on the tree anyway. These have been excellent cameras and the strap has been the only inherent problem. There are mounts and lock boxes available if your strap bracket happens to break so it's only a minor problem. Hope this helps. Thanks for blogging with us at www.Huntbuzz.com

I'd recommend doing the Lock Box and Python Cable Rich has. That is what I did.

Those plastic clips on the straps are the only negative I have with my Moultries. Not that you need to get it super tight but mine have a hard time even "snugging" to the tree without popping. The old shoe string style on the other digital cameras are better. Great cameras I can live with strap.
